If you adopt a pet under the age of 4 months, you are REQUIRED to have your pet neutered when it reaches 4-5 months. A voucher will be issued for Sequatchie Valley Low Cost Spay/Neuter in Dunlap for your pet and paid at 100% for neuter/rabies.
Before you adopt please read
_____ Do you have the time to give to your new member? They need play time, exercise time, time to sit and be petted and loved. If you do not have sufficient time for a pet – DO NOT ADOPT.
_____ Are you able to financially care for your new member? Pets do not just eat. By law they require a rabies shot every year (requires a vet visit for that). Sometimes they get sick or injured and will need medications and antibiotics. Flea and Tick preventatives, prevention for heartworms and toys are not cheap. . It may add up to several hundred dollars a year. If you cannot afford to financially take care of your pet – DO NOT ADOPT.
_____ Does anyone in your family, who will have frequent contact with your new pet, have allergies? If so, this could be a potential problem so please DO NOT ADOPT.
_____ I understand there is a leash law in the State of Tennessee. Can you provide an area where your dog can have freedom to run and exercise and not roam freely?
_____ I understand that all dogs over the age of 6 months are required by law to have a rabies shot every year. A dogs first rabies shot is for one year. The following year some vets offer a two-year rabies if you have proof of initial vaccination.
_____ Dogs are a pack animal. Most do not like to live in isolation or be at the end of a chain most of the day/night. My adopted dog will be brought in as part of the “family”.
_____ A home visit is required prior to our final decision to adopt a pet.
I hereby agree that the adoption fee of $100 helps to cover Paws and Claws Expense of vetting and neutering this animal and is non-refundable after a 14 day trial period. For puppies that are not neutered there is also a $50 deposit that will be returned when proof supplied that pup has been neutered.
